According to a survey by Japan’s Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, around 181,000 establishments overseas were classified as Japanese restaurants in 2025. As sushi, ramen, and tempura have spread, the Japanese seasonings that underpin their flavors have also found their way onto tables abroad.
